It’s been a tough start to the 2024 season for the Lady Bobcats volleyball team as they now have three games under their belts and have yet to find their way to a win.

On Tuesday, Sept. 3, Mullen hosted a triangular with Anselmo-Merna, and South Loup. The first game the Lady Bobcats took on Mullen. In tournament play the scoring is the best two out of three matches, instead of the three out of five in a traditional game.

South Loup lost the first set by a final score of 18-25; and the second set, 17-25. The second game for the Lady Bobcats was against Anselmo-Merna. The Lady Bobcats again lost in two sets, 11-25, and 12-25.

“I know for a fact every girl on our team has the skill, but we just need the drive,” said Bobcats Head Coach Michelle Preston.

One outstanding highlight of the game versus Mullen was when Anna Tullis got a perfect dig right up to Riata Remund for a beautiful set for Nyachay Haidle to smack right down onto Mullen’s side of the court.

“Our back row defense was always working hard and getting to the ball,” Preston said.

Another very memorable rally was when starting freshman, Emma Stallbaumer transitioned back as a free ball was passed over from Merna’s side of the court. Then, back row Danah Baldwin took a nice high pass to setter Riata Remund, for Emma, as she took her approach and slammed the ball down on Merna’s side of the court winning another point for the Bobcats. Staullbaumer’s amazing performance left the crowd roaring with excitement supporting the outstanding kill!

“Our first game didn’t go as anticipated, so it really set us some goals and showed some things we need to work on for our next game,” said Danah Baldwin and Anna Tullis.

The Lady Bobcats traveled to Hi-Line on Friday, Sept. 6, and lost the game 3-0. No stats for the game were available.
