Bobcats See Final Week of Golf Season
The South Loup golf team battled the wind in back-to-back meets last week, beginning with the North Platte St. Pat’s Invite on Thursday, May 2. Seventeen teams participated in the highly competitive meet, and though the Bobcats did not have a top-10 finisher on the day they shot very consistently as a team.
Low score of the meet was shot by Jack Baker of Hitchcock County who finished with an 83 to help lead his team to the overall team title. St. Pat’s finished 2nd, and Anselmo-Merna 3rd.
The Bobcats were led by Haydn Stretesky who finished with 92. Close behind were teammates Joey Sallach with 94, Cache Gracey with 96, and Dawson Doggett with 98. Harper Johnson rounded out the team shooting 108 for a team total of 378, just 5 strokes behind the 3rd place Coyotes.
The team then hit the road again on Friday for the Overton Invite where they were one of a dozen teams on the course. Holdrege proved to be the team to beat finishing with an impressive team score of 309. Cam Waldo led the team once again with the low score of the day of 73. He was one of three Dusters to shoot under 80.
Stretesky once again had the low score for the Bobcats, carding a 96. Sallach and Johnson both finished with 98, Gracey with 101, and Brady Brestel came in with a 116 to complete the team scoring total of 393.
The last regular season meet was Wednesday at Mullen. Those results were not available at press time. District golf will be played Monday at Ainsworth.
