Bobcat Golfers Continue Strong Season

The South Loup golf team competed in two meets last week, beginning with a quad hosted by Anselmo- Merna played at the Broken Bow Country Club on Tuesday, April 9.

The four participating teams were host A-M, Broken Bow JV, South Loup, and Sandhills Valley. The final team scores were very close, but SV had the low team score of the day with 188, with South Loup close behind at 193, A-M with 195, and the Broken Bow JV team with 196.

Individually it was Ethan Weems with the low score of 40 after nine holes. Just one point off the lead was Colin Cooksley of A-M with 41. Haydn Steresky led the Bobcats with 44 strokes, good for 3rd place. South Loup’s Cache Gracey finished the course with 46 strokes to put him in 5th place overall.

Other individual results for the Bobcats included Dawson Doggett with 51, Joey Sallach right behind with 52, and Harper Johnson sticking close with 58.

On Thursday, April 11, the team traveled to Hershey for a 12-team invitational. Despite the extreme winds and chilly temperatures, the golfers managed to turn in some good scores that day.

Zaybreon Hansen of Perkins County was the top individual as he finished the day with a low score of 78.

They will take a short road trip to Broken Bow on Tuesday, April 23, for the MNAC competition. Tee time is set for 10 a.m.
