On March 21, the South Loup Bobcats traveled to Loup City to compete in the first outdoor track meet of the year. Per usual, the track meet weather would not match up with the forecast, leaving the participants to deal with a cold brisk wind for the remainder of the day.

The Bobcats would still fare well with some contributions in the morning through field events. These contributions would come from Rio Remund who would win the shot-put, Dylan Pandorf placing 6th in triple jump, Trey Connell with another 6th place in long jump, Dawson Mason placing 4th in pole vault, and the 4x800 relay team grabbing 4th.

In the afternoon events, Dylan Pandorf would place 4th in the 400, with another 4th from Josiah Coleman. At the latter end of the track meet Caleb McFate would place 5th in the 300 meter hurdles, and Logan Recoy would snag 3rd place in the 800 meters. Both the 4x100 and the 4x400 relay teams finished 6th.

On the girls’ side, Ella Cool brought home the silver medal in the 3200 meters and was part of the 2nd place 4x800 meter relay team. Charli Vickers finished 2nd in the 300 meter hurdles, and 3rd in the 100 meter hurdles. She was also part of the 4th place 4x100 meter relay team.

Bryn Schwarz finished 4th in the pole vault clearing the bar at 8 feet even. She also ran the anchor leg of the 4x100 relay team that finished 4th, and came in 6th in the 100 meters.

Ivy Tullis was the bronze medalist in the 800 meters, and the anchor leg of the 2nd place 4x800 relay team.

The Bobcats are back on the track today, March 28, in Elwood for the Hi-Line Invitational. The team will host the South Loup Invite on April 5 in Arnold, with events set to begin at 10 a.m.
