Rita Bill (Harris) age 74 of Bennet, died peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2023, in Lincoln. She was born on June 30, 1949, in Lexington, the fifth child of William Orris (Bill) and Loretta Belle (Bybee) Harris. On Feb. 11, 2000, she was united in marriage to Rodney Light in York. Rita worked nearly 30 years at Champion Home Builders in York, as a forklift operator. Her hobbies included designing, crafting and refurbishing items. When she and her husband Rod moved to McCool Junction, she had a small craft shop where she enjoyed selling her creations. After Rod’s death in 2013, she closed her small gift/craft shop and moved to North Platte to be near her family. In 2020, she moved to Bennet to be near extended family and loving friends who cared deeply for her.

She is survived by daughter Natalie (Shane) Moats; son, Micheal (Sarah) Roberts; sonin- law, Eric Pitner; grandsons, Nathan and William Moats, James, Jackson, and Jayce Roberts; and granddaughter, Kennedy Pitner, all from the North Platte area. She is also survived by her sister, Orpha (Ron) McVicker, of Denver, Colorado; brother, Jon (Kerri) Harris of Davenport, Florida; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many special friends, especially Tami Jackson, Terry and Patty Hudnall.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a baby daughter, Rebecca; daughter, Dawn Pitner; husband, Rodney Light; brothers, Dee, Lee, and Charles Harris; and sisters-in-law, Beverly and LaVonne Harris.

A special thank you to Tabitha Hospice for the exceptional care provided to Rita during the last few months of her life.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. It was Rita’s wish to be cremated. There is no viewing or visitation. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation. Condolences may be left for the family at www.metzmortuary.com. Metz Mortuary in York is handling the arrangements.
