The Lady Bobcat volleyball team (7-11) had a rough week, dropping two of their three games.

They hosted the Ansley Litchfield Spartans on Tuesday in Callaway and went 3-0. The first set started off in favor of the Lady Bobcats, with them having nearly a 10-point lead over the Spartans. But costly errors allowed the Spartans to score 10 points unanswered in a set that went into extra points, with the Lady Bobcats losing 25-27.

The second set again saw the Lady Bobcats up by a commanding score, but the Spartans were able to pick away at that lead to tie things up with well-placed hits and fewer errors. The second set also went to the Spartans, 23-25.

The Lady Bobcats, looking zapped of their confidence going into the third set, kept up with the Spartans on the floor but never had the lead on the scoreboard. They dropped this set 23-25.

On Thursday, they traveled over to Stapleton for a triangular with Sandhills Valley and Twin Loup. First up, the Lady Bobcats took on Twin Loup, forcing them to 3 sets, but ultimately dropping the match 2-1.

In the first set, the Lady Bobcats took an early lead but the Wolves were strong at the net and used their timeouts effectively to halt progress by the Lady Bobcats. Once the Wolves found the vulnerabilities on the Lady Bobcat’s court, they took off and won the set 18-25.

The second set was a back-and-forth with each side getting points back to keep the score tight throughout the entire time of play. The Lady Bobcats were able to rally and win that set 25-23.

The final set against Twin Loup was another tight match, going into extra points, but a net violation gave the Wolves the win 25-27.

The last game of the evening was against Sandhills Valley. The Lady Bobcats were much stronger than the Mavericks, but this imbalance in talent allowed for both sides to sub in their underclassmen and just have fun on the court. Sisters Josie and Neltje Reiff were able to play together; Anna Tullis had some great hits at the net; Delaney Rogers served for the first time this season; and Aubrie Birkel had some great plays.

The Lady Bobcats won both sets 25-9 and 25-10. Individual stats for the Twin Loup and Sandhills Valley games were not available by press time.

They headed to Cambridge on Tuesday for a triangular against the Trojans and Maxwell. These scores were not available by press time.

Thursday they travel to Cozad with first serve at 6 p.m. Saturday, the team splits up with JV heading to Litchfield and varsity going to Loup City for tournaments. JV begins play at 9 a.m. and varsity at 10 a.m.
