EVERYONE IS INVITED TO CALLAWAY LUTHERAN CHURCH’S ANNUAL CORN BOIL, TO BE HELD WEDNESDAY, JULY 26TH AT THE CALLAWAY COMMUNITY CENTER. THE CORN BOIL WILL INCLUDE SWEET CORN, SAUSAGE, POTATOES, AND ICE CREAM. DOORS OPEN AT 5:00 P.M. AND SERVING WILL END AT 7:00 P.M.

Callaway’s Pioneer Picnic weekend was filled with fun activities all around town, one of which was a cornhole tournament on main street. Henry’s Bar hosted the tournament which benefits the 2023 4-H CWF (Citizen Washington Focus) trip.

With only one more meeting before the beginning of the 2023-24 school year, the agenda for the July Callaway Board of Education primarily consisted of the annual housekeeping business in preparation for another year.

Two students from Callaway School had their Poppy Poster selected in their class as state winners in the American Legion Auxiliary Nebraska Poppy contest. The winners will go on to the Northwest Division and will be competing with six other states.

The Senior Center in Callaway was a place to visit and enjoy memories recently for the Nansel Family. The memorial table held a photo of Barb Nansel whom the family lost in November 2022.

The Callaway Chamber of Commerce July Yard of the Month Winner is… Heath and Amy Birkel! The Chamber received many nominations for their yard. They do a very nice job taking care of the yard and flowers.

The Custer County Fair kicks off this evening (July 20) with the annual 4-H fashion show at Broken Bow’s Evangelical Free Church leading off the week-long schedule of events, which culminates on Thursday, Aug. 3.
