Injuries continue to plague the South Loup Bobcat cross country team with two members sidelined Thursday at the Burwell Invitational, but that didn’t discourage them from bringing home four individual medals.

Sophomore Ella Cool finished in third place with a time of 18:37. Ivy Tullis, also a sophomore, finished in seventh place with a time of 19:38. The girls team finished fourth overall with sophomore Gracie Neth also contributing to the team total.

The boys team also finished in fourth place with junior Logan Recoy finishing third with a time of 14:59 and freshman Josiah Coleman finished 14th with a time of 17:01. Caleb McFate also ran for the boys team.

Both Logan and Ella were able to shave a full minute off their times last year at this race, something coach Nicole Recoy attributed to the high expectations the team has set for themselves this year.

“They all ran very well even with all the nervousness and high expectations that they put on themselves,” coach Recoy said in a press release. “They are going to be a fun team to watch this season.”

Senior Halie Recoy and freshman Eli Rogers were both nursing injuries this week and are questionable for Saturday’s meet at the Cozad Country Club at 9 a.m.
