Bobcats Looking to End Losing Streak at Wilcox-Hildreth
The South Loup offensive line tries to keep the Wolves away as Tysen Schacher (#1) hands the ball off to Noah Anderson (#21). Linemen pictured are Dawson Downing (#5), Taytum Wiese (#33), and Malachi Neth (#25).
The woes for the South Loup football team continued last week, as the Bobcats suffered their third consecutive loss on the gridiron. Hosting the game in Arnold, the Bobcats were not able to shut down the Loomis offense, as the Wolves put up 66 points against South Loup’s 30.
The Bobcats finished the game with 281 total yards, all of which came on the ground. The Wolves’ defense completely stifled any potential Bobcats’ passing game, with junior Tysen Schacher attempting only three passes with no completions.
However, Schacher carried the ball 21 times for 94 yards and a touchdown. Jett Morgan, a sophomore, had 13 carries for 92 yards and a touchdown, while freshman Jaxsen Schacher rushed the ball only twice but gained 50 yards and a trip into the end zone. The other touchdown came on a 17-yard scamper by Mike Corliss.
Dawson Downing added 18 rushing yards on 3 carries, and Noah Anderson had 10 yards on 3 carries.
On defense, Jacob King led the team with the most tackles at 9, two of those for loss. He also had a fumble recovery. T. Schacher finished the night with 6 tackles, while Cruz Mason and Braxton Cozad each had 4 tackles, with half of Cozad’s resulting in lost yards. Two of Brody Green’s 3 tackles also created lost yardage for the Wolves.
The Bobcats are now 4-4 on the year and will close out their regular season tonight, Oct. 22, against Wilcox-Hildreth in Wilcox. The Falcons are 5-3. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
