The South Loup volleyball team traveled to Brady on Tuesday, Sept. 15, to compete in a triangular with Brady and Bertrand. The Lady Bobcats split their matches.

They met the home team Brady Eagles first, who have been playing very well recently.

Brady was able to stay on top of the Bobcats throughout most of the first set, getting the win 25-18. However, the Bobcats fought back and closed the gap in set two, but couldn’t quite muster enough to take the match to an extra set as Brady came out on top 25-22.

Emma Stallbaumer was a powerhouse for the Lady Bobcats, knocking down 10 kills in the match. Berklee Preston added 6 kills. Preston also came up with 9 digs, while Paityn Dailey had 8 digs, and Charli Pandorf finished the match with 7 digs. Stallbaumer and Addison Dalrymple each had 5 digs.

The Bobcats then took on the Bertrand Vikings and totally dominated the first set by a final score of 25-11. Bertrand proved they were no pushover, however, as they battled back in set two to go to extra points; but South Loup pulled off the win 26-24 to get the sweep.

Stallbaumer repeated with 10 kills in this match as well, while Preston had another 6 kills. Asa Starr got in on the action with 3 kills, and Kamryn Kramer and Olivia Fitzgerald each added 2 kills.

Defensively, three Bobcats finished the match with double-digit digs; Preston led with 12, Dailey had 11, and Rae Hagler added 10. Fitzgerald added 9 digs, and Pandorf had 8.

It was a much-needed win for the Bobcats, who had lost their previous five matches.

They looked to keep that momentum going this week as they headed to Elm Creek for a triangular with the Buffaloes and Anselmo-Merna on Tuesday, and will travel to Sutherland for a tournament on Saturday.
