Body In just six short weeks an estimated 20,000 people will be converging on our community and gathering at Lake Helen for the annual Livin' Out Loud concert. Those people will be buying food, fueling up vehicles, staying in our hotels and campgrounds and visiting our stores.

Body Recently our family went on a camping trip. Our kids loved how we canoed our supplies across a lake and set up our campsite. My wife and I were reminded how much work it is.

Body Unit 59 of Callaway Legion Auxiliary met on June 20, 2022. The meeting was held at American Legion Hall in Callaway at 6:30 p.m. The meeting started off with the President Deondra Lashley calling the meeting to order.

Body A fire erupted around 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 29 on Pressey West Road and Road 786, north of Oconto and near Pressey Park and the Pressey State Wildlife Management Area.

Body Every year the first weekend in July lends itself to a community celebration in Oconto. The events kicked off on Friday, July 1 with a mystery scavenger hunt, the winners of which were announced during the parade on Saturday morning.

Body After a shower gave the ground a much needed soaking on Sunday night, the clouds gave way to traditional 4th of July weather - sunny and hot.

Body Pioneer Picnic is over, but the Village of Callaway remains in celebration mode as they gear up for the 4th of July festivities. Sue Phelps and family have been busy organizing another fantastic fireworks display and Independence Day celebration, which all gets underway at 8 p.m.

Body The Custer County Courthouse and offices will be closed on Monday, July 4 in celebration of Independence Day. Please plan accordingly. The offices will open for regular business hours on Tuesday, July 5.

Body Members of the Tail Twister 4 H club participated in a community service clean-up project at the Callaway Rose Hill Cemetery.

Body Tour de Nebraska is a five-day (Wednesday-Sunday) circle tour, which means riders enjoy the convenience of starting and ending at the same place. The TDN is limited to 500 riders, which allows for meaningful interaction between riders and the quaint communities they visit.
