The Callaway American Legion Auxiliary’s monthly meeting started at 6:30 p.m. at the Callaway Legion Hall on May 12, 2025. Our president Jane Lashley called the meeting to order. Our Chaplin Joyce Brestel started the meeting with a prayer. We then followed our President with the Pledge of Allegiance, sang the Star Spangled Banner, and recited the Auxiliary Preamble.

The meeting began with the secretary reading the minutes from our April 12 meeting. There were two corrections called out with the minutes. One correction was stated that the pins which we purchased were for the Veterans at the Central Nebraska Veterans Home, but they were in fact purchased for our 6th and 7th graders to be presented at the awards program for their services singing the National Anthem at last year’s Memorial Day Services. I also stated that we had not decided what we would present to the teachers for Teachers Appreciation Day, when in fact we had voted to present them with patriotic notepads.

Mary Ann gave her financial report, and after everything was paid and all income was reported we are sitting good. The bill for the pins given to the 6th and 7th graders was presented and will be paid.

MaryAnn and Terri Smith attended the Pie and Ice Cream Social at 3:00 p.m. on April 30. They felt that the Veterans enjoyed this social function.

On Friday, May 16, from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. will be Poppy Day. We could use some help fluffing wreaths at the Legion Hall while the Jr’s are taking the poppies around town.

The Department Convention will be held in Columbus on June 26 thru 29. It will be held in the Quality Inn. Our President Jane read the Call To Convention. All Delegates will need to report by 9:15 a.m. on June 29. They will need to have the fees for the convention also.

On Wednesdays during May we are helping with Story Hour at the Library. It is from 10–10:30 a.m. and we are reading things on Military and patriotic subjects.

We held elections for new officers for the 2025-2026 year of service and they will be inducted at the August meeting.

The meeting was concluded with Joyce reading a prayer and Jane concluding the meeting.

Sincerely, Eileen Wilson, Secretary
