It isn't often that a track team competes and wins two meets in one week, but the Lady Bobcats did just that, keeping their winning record perfect as they won the 12-team Burwell Invitational on April 14.

There were some adjustments made to the format of the meet, including start time and it being changed from a dual-session to single-session in order to allow for temperatures to warm. Despite the intense wind continuing to blow, the Lady Bobcats prevailed and scored particularly well in the field events the meet kicked off with.

Abby Stallbaumer and Mya Weverka threw for second and sixth, respectively in the discus and Isabelle Stallbaumer tossed the shot for third place while Weverka nabbed fifth. Reagan Cool won the pole vault for the only field event win on the day in a tremendously competitive field and difficult side wind to take top honors. Charli Vickers leapt her way to fifth place in the high jump to round out the Lady Bobcat field events.

On the track, the running quartet of Tallianna Martin, Heidi Donegan, Ella Cool and Ivy Tulis produced the usual results in handily winning the 3200 meter relay. Vickers took to the 100 meter hurdles and brought home a fifth place finish as the Lady Bobcats began tallying up the team points. Halie Recoy placed second in the 100 meters and Cool and Faith Bierman placed fourth and sixth, respectively, in the 3200 meter run.

As the meet went on, the girls continued to score in most events. Donegan finished eighth in the 800 meters and Recoy and Bryn Schwarz added a nice punch with fourth and sixth place finishes in the 200 meters. The 1600 meter has been a points bonanza for the ladies throughout the year and this meet was no different. Tulis and Martin dominated the race, finishing first and second.

Then it was on to the relays where the Lady Bobcat 4 x 100 meter relay faced a stacked field. The Lady Bobcats placed fourth in a race where the top four teams finished within one-half second of each other.

South Loup ended the day with a bang as the quartet of Tullis, Abby Stallbaumer, Taylor Ross and Schwarz broke the school record in winning the 1600 meter relay.

The girls scored 112 points on the day, falling short of the 130 points scored in the last two meets but 13 points ahead of runner-up Sandhills-Thedford.

Coach Weverka said that having 2 meets only 2 days apart called for resting some girls and not running them in as many events but he was happy with their performances in the short time frame between meets.

The Lady Bobcat's results of the April 19 meet at Overton will be available in the April 28 issue of the Callaway Courier.
