Lady Bobcats Grab Gold, Strong on the Road
The Lady Bobcats started the outdoor season at the Hershey/St. Pat's Invitational last Saturday with some outstanding performances.
The meet was officially an unscored event although some news outlets have posted team results unofficially.
The girls had two firsts on the day, as Abby Stallbaumer in the discus and Reagan Cool in the pole vault won their events.
Halie Recoy had two podium finishes on the day finishing 2nd in the 100 meter and 3rd in the 200 meter and looked very strong in both races.
Bryn Schwarz narrowly missed the podium with 4th in the 200 meters and ran a strong leg on the 4th place 1600 meter relay.
Coach Weverka stated that he was really happy with the performance of the freshman girls as they performed very well on the day.
Freshman, Ivy Tullis ran on the 3rd place 3200 meter relay, as well as placing 3rd in the 1600 meter run. She narrowly edged out her fellow freshman teammate Ella Cool by less than .10 of a second who also ran on the 3rd place 3200 meter relay.
Coach Weverka's throwers also had a noteworthy day, as Stallbaumer again won the discus, while senior Mya Weverka earned a silver medal in the shot put.
The throwers were without Isabelle Stallbaumer, another of the standout throwers, due to a prior commitment.
Perhaps one of the most outstanding performances on the day was the 1600 meter run of Talianna Martin who controlled the 1600 meter, but was caught in the home stretch by an outstanding Mullen runner, earning the silver with her personal best performance. Martin also ran an outstanding leg on the 3200 meter relay.
The girls will next be in action at the Hi-Line Invitational at Elwood on April 1.
