The Lady Bobcat volleyball team had a long week of play, traveling to number 2 ranked Cambridge, down to Southern Valley, and up to Loup City.

Last Tuesday, the Cambridge Trojans hosted the Bobcats and Maxwell Wildcats for a triangular. The Lady Bobcats split the day, 1-1. First up South Loup battled Cambridge, but the top-ranked Trojans shut down the Bobcats every step of the way, winning 9-25 and 15-25.

Abby Stallbaumer and Charli Vickers were shutdown with only 3 kills each for the Bobcats; Ava Pandorf had 57 set assists; and Talli Martin had 21 serve receives.

The Bobcats shook off the loss and turned around to annihilate Maxwell 25-9 and 25-10. The Bobcats rocked the net with Taylor Ross dishing out 6 kills, followed by Lauryn Johnson with 4 kills. Pandorf had 3 aces for 18 serving attempts and zero errors.

Thursday, the Bobcats trekked down to Southern Valley for a thrilling 5-set game to defeat the Eagles 3-2. The first set went into extra points, 24-26, but the Bobcats bounced back for an easy 25-16 win. The third set went into extra points again 24-26, but the Lady Bobcats hit back to win the next two 25-15 and 15-10.

Stallbaumer and Ross were busy at the net with 15 kills each, followed by Johnson with 11. Stallbaumer also had 3 serving aces in 10 attempts and had 15 blocks at the net. Ross followed right behind with 14 blocks. Talli Martin had 79 digs and 38 serve receives. Pandorf had an impressive 154 assists and 44 sets.

On Saturday the varsity Bobcats traveled to Loup City for the Rebels tournament. Up first was the Huskies of West Holt. Even though the Bobcats forced them to 3 sets, the Huskies pulled out the win 2-1. Both teams were equally matched all game, but the Huskies were able to seal the deal 25-27, 25-27, 23-25.

The second game against Gibbon was all Bobcats, with an easy win 25-10 and 25-17. Stallbaumer had 5 kills, followed by Ross and Johnson with 4 each. Stallbaumer, Bryn Schwarz, and Martin each had 11 digs and Pandorf had 46 assists.

Playing for 5th place, the Bobcats took on Sandhills/ Thedford and made easy work of the Knights, downing them 25-16 and 25-11. Ross had 5 kills and 7 blocks; Stallbaumer had 8 blocks and 1 serving ace in 5 attempts; and Pandorf had 11 service attempts with zero errors. Martin had 9 serve receives at libero.

The Bobcats, who are ranked first in the Mid-Nebraska Activities Conference, will host the first round of conference playoffs Thursday in Callaway. They play the winner of the Cody-Kilgore vs Hyannis match at 5:30 p.m. They will then play again on Saturday in Broken Bow. This is a best of 5 sets tournament.

Tuesday the Bobcats will travel to Ainsworth for the final game of the regular season. Sub-district play begins Monday, Oct. 24.
