Deadlines And Dates Set At Joint 4-H Meeting

The Tail Twisters and Western Riders 4-H clubs held a joint meeting on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2023. The Meeting was called to order by Delaney Rogers at 7:00 p.m. at the Methodist church in Arnold. Sue Stratton gave a demonstration on how to make homemade bread. Delanie Weinman read the Secretary Report from January’s meeting. Eli Rogers made the motion to approve the minutes and Jocelyn Bailey seconded the motion. Motion carried. Maggie Birkel read the Tail Twisters’ treasurer's report and Riata Remund read the Western Riders treasurer’s report.

Premium book Ad Sales were turned into Jocelyn Bailey and are due to the extension office March 1, 2023.

Organizational leaders and project leaders gave their reports on upcoming events. If kids are planning on showing other animals besides horses this year, they are able to transport their horses home after they are done competing. Horses are not required to stay at the fair all week. Horse practice will be held in Broken Bow at the fairgrounds or the rodeo grounds in Callaway on Monday night beginning in June and going through July.

For kids interested in shooting sports a small meeting was held after the meeting to discuss who was all interested in competing and when practices will begin. Dog practices will begin once the temperature warms up.

The 4-H online enrollment deadline is April 1, 2023. Enter as much as you think you are interested in this year but you are not required to complete all of it. The Clover Kid age for fair ranges from five to eight. The Custer County Challenge Beef Progress Show is on April 30, 2023, at the open arena in Broken Bow. The 4-H public speaking contest entries are due March 31, 2023. Each speech is roughly five to seven minutes long. Each club came to an agreement on donating money to help out the facilities we use to hold our meetings.

The next meeting will be held at the Senior Center in Callaway on March 19, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was adjourned at 7:33 p.m.
