Minutes of February Legion Auxiliary Meeting
The Legion Auxiliary Unit 59 met at 6:30 p.m. at the Legion Hall in Callaway. We proceeded to start our meeting with Joyce Brestel reading a prayer. Deondra Lashley called our meeting to order. We proceeded with the reading of the minutes from our last meeting, they were approved as read. MaryAnn Boldt presented our fiscal report, and we are doing good.
Our District 6 Annual Convention is being held March 4, and some are making things for an auction in which the proceeds will go to the Emergency Fund.
We collected and distributed a lot of valentines for our veterans. Our Jr. and youth members made lots of valentines to help with our collection.
Our dues were voted on at the ALA Convention here in Callaway. Shirley made a motion to go with the vote and change our dues to $30.25. MaryAnn seconded this motion and it carried a unanimous vote of approval. So when our dues are paid in July, we will pay $30.25.
The dry erasers for the school came in. Jo Chesley presented them to the classes that requested them.
We need to remember the new Christian School that has started here. We need to consider them when we have projects for students to compete in.
We judged the Girls State Essays and we have decided that Skylar Ellison is the most qualified to represent us at Girls State. Girls State is June 4 - 11.
We have one Gold Star Member, that is Rose Hiesch. The Americanism Essays are due Feb. 27. We also need to pick up the Scholarship Essays so they can be judged. We need to judge them on March 8 from 1:00 to 3:00 or however long it takes. Poppy Posters are due March 15. We will judge them at our next meeting.
We are planning the Legion Birthday. MaryAnn suggested that the party be March 19, at 2 p.m. Members of our American Legion, the members of the Sons of American Legion and our Legion Auxiliary and all their family members are invited to attend. Shirley Trout seconded this motion and it was a unanimous vote.
There was no other business, so our meeting was adjourned with Joyce reading a prayer and Deondra adjourning the meeting.
Sincerely, Eileen Wilson, Secretary
