Pioneer Picnic is over, but the Village of Callaway remains in celebration mode as they gear up for the 4th of July festivities. Sue Phelps and family have been busy organizing another fantastic fireworks display and Independence Day celebration, which all gets underway at 8 p.m. Monday at the ballpark.

The American Legion flag retirement ceremony will begin the evening, and at 9:30 p.m. American Legion Post 59 will post the colors prior to the start of the fireworks display at dusk.

Popcorn and water will be available during the program, compliments of the American Legion Auxiliary. There will also be ice cream sandwiches, compliments of Callaway Market, and patriotic gifts for all kids in attendance.

There is no charge to attend the celebration; donations are appreciated and can be made at Nebraska State Bank or the night of the fireworks show.
