The public is invited to enjoy lunch and take an opportunity to meet the drivers and get an up-close look at the cars participating in the 2026 Sandhills Open Road Challenge. The One-Mile Shootout will be held Friday morning, Aug. 7, beginning at 8 a.m. on the Callaway/Cozad Road. The road will be closed starting at 7:30 a.m. so spectators will need to arrive prior to that. Following the shootout a lunch will be served at the Callaway Community Center, hosted by the Callaway Chamber of Commerce. The cars will be parked along the street for viewing. The parade of cars will begin in Arnold at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, followed by the car show, drag race, and burnout contest. The road race begins Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m.
