The Callaway Pioneer Picnic Car Show was held June 27, with 34 classic cars, trucks, tractors, a golf cart, and a kids Mercedes registered. Vehicle from a 1927 Model “T” Ford to a 2015 kids Mercedes car braved the misty weather to display in Morgan Park, with vehicles coming from Callaway, Cozad, Arnold, Beaver City, North Platte, Holdrege, Merna, Lexington, and Grand Island. The 2026 sponsors provided fantastic raffle prizes and generously donated money for unique 250th Anniversary of America celebration award plaques.

The 50/50 raffle netted $1,175 to be split for the raffle winner and designated charity. The Callaway Volunteer Firefighters were selected as recipients of the 2026 Car Show charity. LeRoy Rice won the raffle, but donated it to the firefighters also.

There were direct donations of $631 for a total of $1,806 to be donated to the CVFD.

Lee Bruns, LeRoy Rice, and members of the Callaway Chamber of Commer presented the check to the fire department during the July 6 CVFD meeting.

Car Show Coordinator Lee Bruns would like to thank all of the volunteers who helped with the show: Dick and Sandy Remmenga of Kearney, Randy Boltz of Grand Island, Duane and Carla Kimball, Colton and Lucy McWhirter, Court and Emily Kaelin, and Phyllis Bruns.

Bruns announced that this would be his last year as coordinator of the car show, and the Chamber is currently looking for a replacement to take that over. Bruns would like to thank the Callaway Chamber of Commerce and all car show participants and volunteers for their support over the past five years.
