4-H Club Reminds Members of Upcoming Due Dates
The April meeting for the Tail Twisters 4-H club was called to order at 7:03 p.m. on Sunday, April 24, 2022. Roll call was taken to determine who attended the meeting. The treasurer’s report was read.
Quality Assurance sign up was May 1. Members can test out if they are years 12 and older. The test can be taken June 8 from 6 - 8 p.m. Horse ID for state and district registration was due to the extension office May 6. Record books for bucket calves are due July 1.
Livestock Junior Superintendent registration is due June 1. For registration you have to write an essay explaining how you can help out in the ring during shows and how it can help you gain leadership skills.
Elizabeth Phelps and Kennedy Eggleston both competed in the 4-H speech competition. Elizabeth received novice champion with a purple ribbon and gold. Kennedy received junior champion with a purple ribbon and gold.
Guest speakers Tim and Zach Loy came to talk to the club about beef and how to care for your animals. Tim works with animal nutrition. He talks about the reason we care for our animals and show them. Zach is a sophomore at Ansley Public schools and he competed at state FFA in meat judging. He talked about what state FFA was and what he had to do in meat judging.
The next meeting will be held May 22, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. at the Callaway Senior Center. Kelynn made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:35 p.m. and Neltje seconded the motion.
