South Loup Bobcat athletes, coaches and families gathered May 6 in Arnold for the annual athletic banquet to celebrate the year’s successes, growth, and to say goodbye to three long-time coaches who are hanging up the whistle.

This year’s Outstanding South Loup Senior Bobcat Athletes were Mya Weverka of Callaway and Colbi Smith of Arnold. Weverka played volleyball and basketball for four years and participated in track for three years. Smith was a four-year basketball player, two year unified bowler, and three-year golfer. During their junior year in 2020, the pandemic canceled both the track and golf seasons.

Long-time volleyball coach Kim Sallach was honored by the team for her years of service. Sallach retired at the end of the season to spend more time with her family.

Girls basketball coaches Abe Hindman and Andy Schwarz also made the decision to retire at the end of the season. The team presented them with gifts of appreciation for their years of service.
