Primary Election Results: County Board of Supervisors, Dist. 6 Democrats - Robert Weatherly, 147; Homer Schneringer, 71. There were no Republicans running in the primary Callaway School Board (top six move on to general election) - Ole Chesley, 263; Ronald L. Jorgenson, 222; Richard Ridder, 218; Karen Stryker, 193; Gail Clay, Jr., 112; Mary Jane Reinhard, 102; Larry Dodge, 69 Callaway Hospital Board (top three were elected to the board) - Homer E. Pierce, 467; Alex W. Schneider, 442; Frances Devine, 383; Raymond L. Kolbo, 341; Zelma Cook, 180 Commencement was held May 17 in Callaway with 22 graduates receiving their diplomas. More scholarships were awarded than ever before when 17 were given out to the students. The valedictorian was Rick Coons and the salutatorian was Duane Hickenbottom.
Substitute teachers serving Callaway Public School will see their paychecks fatten by 26.7 percent next year. The Callaway Board of Education voted to increase substitute teacher pay from $55 a day to $75.
Graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2001 were conducted in the CHS gym. Leah Paulsen was the valedictorian, while Leslie Rigler was named class salutatorian.
