Wayne Witthuhn, Post Commander of American Legion Post 59 in Callaway, was notified that the post had won a Certificate of Most Distinguished Service Award. The certificate was presented to the post by department officials.
Callaway’s girls' tracksters came home with a first-place trophy from the Elwood Invitational held in Lexington. The girls came through with a place in every event except the mile relay.
The Callaway High Bears finished second in the Class II division of the Loup City Invitational, coming down to the last event to decide the title.
CHS 1999 graduate and University of Houston doctoral student Melissa Scott-Pandorf was chosen among hundreds of applications to intern at NASA. She will be helping researchers seek better ways for astronauts to function in space, the Moon, and ultimately Mars.
Deemed beyond yet another renovation, the Callaway Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with the Village of Callaway, is embarking on a project to replace the welcome billboards on the north and south sides of town. Plans are to replace the wooden and sheet steel signs with brick and mortar structures that should be more durable and dignified.
