50 YEARS AGO:

Several Callaway merchants are joining together to be sure the first baby born in the Callaway Hospital has a good start in life. Almost $180 worth of gifts for the family as well as the baby will be awarded.

The Callaway Lions Club will sponsor their annual junior high boys basketball tournament Jan. 12 and 13. Teams entered are from Anselmo- Merna, Arcadia, Arnold, and Callaway.

20 YEARS AGO:

Members of the Callaway Senior Center will host a New Year’s Eve party beginning at 8 p.m. at the center, for an evening of cards and games. Those attending are asked to bring finger foods.

Custer County youth interested in learning how to bowl and have fun are invited to join the 4-H Bowling Club for boys and girls, ages 8-18. The club will meet for six consecutive weeks on Sunday afternoons in Broken Bow.
