The Lady Bobcats scored their highest team score of the year, winning the April 19 Overton Invitational. South Loup’s girls track team scored 149 points, easily outdistancing the rest of the field. The day began with field events, where the Lady Bobcats got to work right away.

Reagan Cool and Abby Stallbaumer took gold - Cool in the pole vault and Stallbaumer in the discus. Mya Weverka took second in the discus with a toss of 101 feet, 6 inches. Joslyn Reif and Charli Vickers tied for second place in the high jump and the duo of Isabelle Stallbaumer and Mya Weverka took third and fourth, respectively, in the shot put event. When the field events were completed, the girls had nearly matched the boys team, with the girls scoring 52 points.

On the track, the quartet of Ivy Tulis, Heidi Donnegan, Ella Cool and Tallianna Martin earned the silver in the 3200 meter relay with a time of 14:03.51. Weverka ran her first open 400 meter of the season, placing fifth.

Freshman sensation Cool was to win the first individual gold on the day, as she battled valiantly against the strong wind to win the 3200 meter run. In finals events, Vickers placed third in the 100 meter hurdles and Recoy and Schwarz went first and fifth in the race.

Faith Bierman took fifth in the 800 meters, and then the sprint duo of Recoy and Schwarz placed second and third in the 200 meters. Reif also earned the 6th place medal in that event. Throughout the year, Tulis and Martin have battled each other down the final straight of the 1600 meters, and did so again, placing first and second in the race.

Weverka, Schwarz, Taylor Ross and Recoy took silver in the 400 meter relay and Tulis, Abby Stallbaumer, Ross and Schwarz earned gold in the 1600 relay.

The Lady Bobcats look to continue their streak of dominance on April 28 at Arnold for the MNAC Meet. The meet will run concurrently with the junior high MNAC track meet. The first events will begin at 9:30 a.m. with junior high running events in the morning and high school field events. At 12:30 p.m., high school running events and junior high field events will begin. All junior high events will be finals only while high school events will be dual-session (prelims/finals).
