50 YEARS AGO:

The Callaway Chamber of Commerce met at Jerry’s Steak House and held an election of officers with the following results: President, Dale Farmer; Vice President, Larry Nelson; Secretary, Jim Smith; 3-year Board of Directors, Alex Schneider.

Lucky winners of $20 at the Dec. 5 drawing sponsored by the Callaway Chamber of Commerce were Homer Amm, LaVerne Dodge, Dorothy Morrison, Sieb Siembering, Robert Bonde, Stan Bonde, and James Smith.

20 YEARS AGO:

Superintendent Pat Osmond told the school board at the December meeting that there have been 12 applications for principal and one for guidance counselor. Osmond also shared that while Oconto School is in compliance to consolidate, the Callaway district will have to wait and see what the Supreme Court decides by the June 15 deadline.

Alex Schneider was presented a plaque by Jerry Meyer at the Chamber of Commerce meeting. The plaque says, “In grateful appreciation to Alex Schneider, president of Callaway Chamber of Commerce, 1974-1975.”
