CVFD Adds New Equipment to Emergency Vehicles
The Callaway Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department has recently added some lifesaving equipment and supplies to each fire truck. CVFD put together five kits for each of its apparatus containing an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), First Aid Kit, and a Tourniquet.
Now each truck on the department is equipped with the medical equipment and supplies needed to treat and manage some life-threatening emergencies from sudden cardiac arrest to severe bleeding. CVFD felt these items were a necessary upgrade to better protect our own firefighters and the community because sometimes our trucks are deployed without an ambulance like on a wildland fire, or providing mutual aid to another fire district like Arnold, Oconto or wherever we are needed. Not only will the items be of great benefit to help treat the firefighters on the department but also to the community. Sometimes when 911 medical calls come in the fire department will not only send the ambulance but also a fire truck for extra manpower or support. If the fire truck were to arrive before the ambulance, then the lifesaving equipment and supplies would be readily available that much quicker.
The funding provided for this project was obtained from the community through fundraising events like the annual BBQ fundraiser and by the Callaway Rural Fire Board. We can’t thank all our community members enough for the continued support and the generous donations over the years. We are all here to help and protect our community where we live.
