Walking To Say Thank You Firefighters
Callaway Public Schools and the Village of Callaway are joining forces to say thank you to our local firefighters. On Wednesday, April 27 the public is invited to participate in a Walk-A-Thon to raise financial support for the Callaway Volunteer Fire Department, and to say thank you to those who helped stop the spread of the fires that took place on March 24.
For 17 hours our volunteer firefighters battled the winds and fire to protect our homes and livestock. To show our appreciation we will be walking for that same length of time - 17 hours. The public is invited to come and go as you wish during the walking hours of 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. that day at the track.
Free food will be available starting at 11 a.m. and will be offered until supplies are gone. For those who like to take their dogs walking with them, they are totally welcome as long as they are on a leash.
If you would like to show your appreciation for our fire department, donations are graciously accepted. Checks may be made out to: Callaway Volunteer Firemen. To sign up for the Walk-A-Thon call 836-2272. In case of inclement weather the walk will be moved to the Community Center.
This is an opportunity to give back to those who have given so much.
REMINDER: The Custer County Courthouse will be closed on April 29 in observance of Arbor Day.
