Officers Installed at September Auxiliary Meeting
The Callaway American Legion Auxiliary’s monthly meeting started at 6:30 at the Callaway Legion Hall on Sept. 8, 2025. President Cora Belew called the meeting to order. Chaplain, Joyce Brestel, started the meeting with a prayer. We then followed our President in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, singing the Star Spangled Banner and saying the Auxiliary Preamble. The minutes of our last meeting were not available. Mary Ann then followed with the financial report that reported we are doing OK.
Mary Ann and Doug went to the National Convention in Florida. Mary Ann reported that it was a learning experience. Mary Ann did have a bill for $12.88 for pins which she purchased for our members at the convention. These items do not have shipping on them if purchased there. Jane motioned to pay Mary Ann for these items. Shari seconded this motion and it received unanimous approval.
Trunk or Treat will be Oct. 31, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. and we need someone to set up before the kids arrive. The bank is requiring new signature cards. Mary Ann made a motion to eliminate all our old signature cards and start over with new signature cards. The only ones on our signature cards will be Cora Belew – President, Eileen Wilson – Secretary and Mary Ann Boldt – Treasurer. This motion was seconded by Deondra and it received unanimous vote of approval.
We had the installation of officer ceremony. Linnea Eggleston, Custer County Auxiliary President, conducted the ceremony and installed Cora Belew – President, Jane Lashley – Vice-President, Eileen Wilson – Secretary, Mary Ann Boldt – Treasurer, Joyce Brestel – Chaplin, Jo Chesley – Historian, and Deondra Lashley – Sargent-At-Arms. We also had initiation of three new members: Tami Smith, Terri Smith and Tina Barrett. Tami was the only one that made it to the meeting. She received a copy of our handbook and in it there is the explanation of Justice, Freedom, Democracy and Loyalty as it pertains to the Auxiliary. We also voted on the donations for all the causes that the Auxiliary contributes to. Mary Ann motioned to order about 200 poppies for all the projects we use poppies for. Deondra seconded this motion and it received unanimous approval. On Sept. 27 there will be a Leadership Training Conference at Bennet, Nebraska. If you would like to go they need to know right away. It begins at 2:00 and the Banquet has a social hour from 5:00 to 6:00 and the dinner starts at 6:00 with entertainment at 7:15. The tickets will be $25. The meeting concluded with a prayer from our Chaplin and Cora adjourned the meeting. Sincerely, Eileen Wilson, Secretary
