The Dave and Deb Haumont family of Custer County received a 2025 Multi-Generational Family Volunteer award on Sunday, Aug. 24, during 4-H Day at the Nebraska State Fair. The Haumont family has been leading 4-H shooting sports for over 40 years. They remain impactful in their dedication, knowledge of the sport, firearms, and continued involvement with the youth. They have fostered a culture dedicated to excellence. They have sacrificed countless hours devoting themselves to helping the youth of their community (and beyond). The Nebraska 4-H volunteer recognition program is designed to complement the tradition of recognizing outstanding volunteers and provide a standard, consistent approach to volunteer recognition across Nebraska. The purpose is to provide a base for Extension staff to sustain volunteers, build leadership potential, and offer recognition and praise for the great work of volunteers.
