Four Bobcat boys earned gold medals at the Burwell Invitational on April 14 with the team finishing fourth out of 12 teams competing.

Silas Cool vaulted his way to gold in the pole vault, tying his personal best with a leap of 11 feet, 6 inches. Cache Gracey ran away with the gold in the 800 meters, again setting a personal best of 2:06.40 and Logan Recoy ran the 1600 meters for a gold medal and a personal best of 5:03.30.

The Bobcats scored well in the field events as Rio Remund and Jake Halstead went 3rd and 7th in the shot put. Halstead also took third in the discus while Lance Jones took fifth in that event.

The Bobcats also picked up additional points in the pole vault with Jamie Tickle’s seventh-place finish.

South Loup dominated the first running event and outran the field in the 3200 meter relay. The quartet of Gracey, Trey Connell, Recoy and Dawson Mason outraced the field by 20 seconds without Silas Cool who was finishing the pole vault. Freshman Dawson Mason has served as a very talented replacement the past two weeks as the pole vault hasn't been completed by the beginning of running events.

The 800 meters has been a race the Bobcats have been able to lean on for points this season, with Gracey and Cool pushing each other in the event. Cool also took fifth in the April 14 race.

The boys did garner one more placing on the day, as the quartet of Cool, A.J. Starr, Ethan Furne and Harper Johnson ran a season-best in the 400 meter relay to earn seventh place.

The Bobcat's results of the April 19 meet at Overton will be available in the April 28 issue of the Callaway Courier.
