It went right down to the wire, but when the fifth Nebraska high school track and field championship was over Saturday, Class D had a new champion - Callaway!

The Bearettes scored 39 points to shade defending champion Elwood for the title. The meet was run in near-perfect weather at North Platte High School. In taking the state title, Callaway athletes established two state Class D records and broke a host of school records.
