The Callaway FCCLA team hit the ground running as they headed to Lincoln for the State convention and competition on April 6-8. Their first stop was the Cheesecake Factory where they reportedly “ate a fantastic lunch and purchased some delicious cheesecake”.

Then they made their way to donate the pop tabs they have been collecting over the last three years to the Ronald McDonald house. From there it was off to Goodwill to purchase some new duds for some “Goodwill Bowling”. The members drew names and purchased an outfit for one of their teammates. “It was a fun way to kick off the 2025 State FCCLA weekend!”

The following day the team of Dawson Mason, Aubrie Birkel, Jozi Edgington, Gracie Brennan, Amelia Pandorf and Lauren Reiff kicked off the competition side of state with completing the case study portion of their project. The members then attended the opening session where Callaway was represented by Jozi during the Parade of Chapters. Many awards were given out and the session closed with a fantastic keynote speaker. The next day consisted of competitions throughout the day where the students would be trying to earn their way to attend Nationals in Orlando!

The chapter found a lot of success during their competition, as four of the teams won champion or runner-up trophies and qualified for Nationals. The results of those competitions are as follows: - Repurpose and Redesign, Level 3 – Angel Johnson, Chenney Dishman, and Kaygan Witthuhn - Gold, CHAMPION - NATIONAL QUALIFIER - Hospitality and Tourism, Level 1 - Amelia, Gracie and Lauren - Gold, CHAMPION - NATIONAL QUALIFIER - Hospitality and Tourism, Level 3 - Jozi, Dawson and Aubrie - Silver, RUNNER-UP - NATIONAL QUALIFIER - Focus on Children, Level 3 – Kelynn Witthuhn and Addison Bailey - Bronze - Fashion Construction, Level 2 – Tiersa Johnson Gold, CHAMPION - NATIONAL QUALIFIER - Chapter Service Project Portfolio, Level 2 – Ashly Denney - Gold - Instructional Video Design, Level 3 - Caleb and Brayden - Silver
