50 YEARS AGO:

Jim Schneider, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Schneider, of Callaway, has been chosen to attend Boys’ State to be held in Lincoln in June.

Duane Hickenbottom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Hickenbottom, was chosen as alternate.

The delegates are sponsored by the American Legion and the Callaway Chamber of Commerce.

20 YEARS AGO:

Marilyn Monroe disappeared but the evening was a success as the Callaway Hospital District Foundation raised some cash at the annual Spring Ball last Saturday evening. Foundation president Marvin Neth said the charity event at the community center raised approximately $4,000. This will be added to the $639,000 meaning the original balance was completely recouped after spending over $300,000 on new equipment several years ago.
