Rempe Honored For 50 Years of Volunteer Service
Fifty years is a long time for someone to serve as a volunteer EMT for the Oconto Rescue Squad, but Jan Rempe has done just that. Jan, her husband Jim, and several others in attendance at a retirement celebration for Jan, were in the first class to get EMT certified back in the 1970s. Jan has kept her certification up to date ever since by taking annual training to keep up her hours.
“We just really wanted to celebrate such a huge milestone for Jan and our Rescue Squad, and we just knew we wanted the people she worked with in the past to be there,” said Vicki Hendricks.
Jan’s family joined in celebrating with her, including her daughter Kristi Zucker and two of her grandchildren, Joe and Carly; along with Jan’s sons, Mark and Mike.
After family pictures and cake, those in attendance began to tell stories about their adventures on the ambulance. Doris Meyers and Dan Eggleston told of their escapades, keeping Jan in stitches.
“It was so nice to have so many people come and tell stories,” said Jan.
