The South Loup men’s and women’s cross country teams traveled to Kearney on Monday for the UNK Invitational. The meet is basically a preview of the state meet, with some of the best runners in Nebraska, and on the same course.

The Bobcats have only two ladies on their team and both have been performing well all season. Senior Ella Cool turned in a time of 22:45.6 on the Kearney course, good for 28th place. Teammate and fellow senior Ivy Tullis finished in the 52nd spot with a time of 23:42.3.

There were 189 competitors in the Class D women’s race.

For the men Josiah Coleman was the top finisher for the Bobcats, coming in 37th with a time of 19:18.5.

Jaden Baker crossed the line with a time of 19:59.2 and in 58th place. Dawson Mason finished 71st, Walter Bierman 108th, Eli Rogers 187th, and Caleb McFate 196th in the field of 292 runners.

The teams now have a break before competing in the conference meet being held in Arnold on Oct. 8.
