On Thursday, Sept. 19, the South Loup football team faced off against Sandhills Valley and secured a decisive victory with a final score of 65-42.
“The offense executed the game plan very well. We were able to take advantage of key matchups which allowed us to be successful all night. The offensive line was key in Dylan setting a new South Loup record, with 273 passing yards,” said Assistant Coach Andy Schwarz.
Bobcats junior quarterback Dylan Pandorf delivered an exceptional performance, passing for 273 yards and three touchdowns with a remarkable completion rate of 78.6%. He also rushed for 66 yards and added a rushing touchdown, highlighting his dual-threat capability. A notable moment was his 60-yard touchdown pass to Crew Witthuhn.
Senior running back AJ Starr played a crucial role for the Bobcats, scoring three rushing touchdowns and helping to maintain the offensive momentum. Connor Paulsen also made his mark, contributing 161 total yards and scoring two rushing touchdowns.
In the receiving game, senior Ethan Furne was a key player, catching a 54-yard touchdown pass and demonstrating his ability to make significant plays under pressure.
Defensively, the Mavericks worked hard to contain South Loup's potent offense but struggled to apply consistent pressure. Cayson Johnston was one of the standout players on defense, providing crucial support throughout the contest.
They say, “Life doesn't get easier or more forgiving, we get stronger and more resilient”, and the Bobcats expressed that pretty well during this game.
The Bobcats will take their 3-1 record on the road Friday, Sept. 27, to Atkinson to meet West Holt who has the same record. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
