American Legion Auxiliary Changes Meeting Time
The Callaway American Legion Auxiliary monthly meeting started at 6:30 at the Callaway Legion Hall on Aug. 12, 2024. Our President Jane Lashley called the meeting to order. Our chaplain Joyce read the prayer. We said the Pledge of Allegiance, we sang the Star-Spangled Banner and recited our Auxiliary Preamble.
Our secretary Eileen read the minutes from the June 17 meeting and there was a correction (MaryAnn made the motion to look into the Auxiliary Flag Emblems for the cemetery, not Jo). MaryAnn moved to approve the minutes with the correction and this motion was approved. MaryAnn Boldt gave the financial report. She has forwarded the money we collected from our Emergency Fund to State for use.
It is time for this year's dues and if you haven’t paid your dues, please do so, they are $32. Jo made a motion to use the donation Danny DeLong gives us each year to help pay the memberships for our members who are at the nursing home, Joyce seconded this, and it received unanimous approval.
We have received news that two of our members have passed, Marge Schneider and Carolyn Elliott.

The Grand Island Veterans Medical Center’s will be at 10:00 and the Kearney Central Nebraska Veterans Home will do theirs at 2:30 that day.

Tawney motioned that we give out certificates for our county members that have been members for 50 years or more and Joyce seconded this, and it received unanimous approval.
We received a thank you note from the Sue Phelps Family for the help we gave during the Chris Phelps Memorial Fireworks on the 4th of July. We also received a thank you note from our students for our donations to the After Prom Party, which I believe all the students signed.
We discussed printing a couple of signs for the Callaway American Legion Auxiliary. MaryAnn made a motion to have two signs made for things we need signs for, such as the parade, the Veterans Soup Super and Halloween Trunk or Treat. Cora seconded the motion which received unanimous approval.
We will check with our schools to see if there are things they need to start the school year off with.
We also had installation of our officers for the new year.
The meeting was adjourned with Joyce reading a prayer and Jane adjourned the meeting. Remember our meetings are now the second Monday of the month at 6:30.
Sincerely, Eileen Wilson, Secretary
