The Callaway American Legion Auxiliary monthly meeting started at 5:00 at the Callaway Legion Hall on June 17, 2024. Our President Jane Lashley called the meeting to order. Our Chaplin Joyce Brestel read the prayer. We said the Pledge of Allegiance, sang the Star Spangled Banner and recited our Auxiliary Preamble.

Our secretary Eileen read the minutes from the May 2nd meeting and there were no corrections. Cora moved to approve the minutes and Deondra seconded this move. MaryAnn Boldt gave the financial report and things look good. Joyce moved to pay MaryAnn for her expenses in printing out Certificates for essays and other things. She prints out around 25 to 30 certificates each year. Deondra seconded the move, and it received unanimous approval.

For the Pioneer Picnic we did receive several items to pass out at the parade. We will present our banner and march behind it. This will show our presence at the parade.

Our Auxiliary and Legion Conference is this weekend in Kearney.

Our girls state representative Adison Bailey attended Girls State, which was held June 2nd. We will see if she can come and give us a report on Girls State.

The next years dues are due in July. They are $32 for this new year.

Neltje Reiff won first place in our Poppy Poster contest so it went to Nationals.

Our meetings time and date will change. The meetings will change to the 2nd Monday of the month at 6:30 starting in August.

Cora volunteered to be our Vice President, MaryAnn made the move to have Cora be Vice President and Jo seconded this move. It received a unanimous vote of approval.

Our new officers will be: President – Jane Lashley; Vice President – Cora Belew; Secretary – Eileen Wilson; Treasurer – MaryAnn Boldt; Chaplain – Joyce Brestel; Historian – Jo Chesley; Legislation Chair and Sargent at Arms – Deondra Lashley.

We have been asked to handle refreshments at the 4th of July celebration at the ballpark. Jo made a move to handle this promotion for the 4th of July fireworks. Cora seconded the move and all approved.

Jo found that there are Auxiliary Flags that are made for celebrations at the cemetery. Jo made the motion that we purchase some for adorning the graves of our Auxiliary members at Rose Hill. MaryAnn seconded this and we approved this move.

This is all that we discussed here tonight. See you all at the next meeting.

Sincerely, Eileen Wilson
