On April 5, the South Loup Bobcats held their annual South Loup Invite. It was a good day for the Bobcats, as the women’s team won the team title while the men’s team finished in 3rd place.

The meet competitors varied from the east part of the state to the west, including quite a few in-conference teams. The track meet was a fairly large one, with great competition as there were 14 teams who competed.

The field events began at 10 a.m. and would fare well for the Bobcats. Rio Remund would come away victorious in the shot put with a distance of 47’6. Pedro Flores would make the finals, but not place as he was a spot away, ending the day at 7th.

The pole vault would have a few finalists, with placers from Dawson Mason at 2nd, and Uotong Haidle at 6th.

In the jumps, Dylan Pandorf would place 2nd in triple, and Trey Connell would place 4th in long.

The afternoon began, and despite the harsh conditions, the Bobcats would place quite well. In the sprints, Connor Paulson qualified for the final in the 100m but would be one spot out of placing. He would avenge this with a 4th-place finish in the 200m. Dylan Pandorf also had a 4th place finish in the 400m.

Elijah Cool would place 6th in the 800m, Logan Recoy would win the mile, and Josiah Coleman would place 4th in the 2-mile for the mid-distance and distance group.

The hurdles would consist of a 4th place finish by Caleb McFate in the 300m.

The relays would each place as well with the 4x100 snagging 2nd, and the 4x4 getting 3rd.

On the women’s side, Ivy Tullis and Jade Bierman finished 3rd and 4th respectively in the 800m, while Ella Cool ran to a silver medal in the 3200m. Charli Vickers claimed the bronze medal in the 100m hurdles, and 4th place in the 300m hurdles.

The 4x100m relay team of Erin Fitzgerald, Bryn Shwarz, Asa Starr, and Charli Vickers finished 3rd, while the 4x400m relay team of Erin Fitzgerald, Jade Bierman, Asa Starr, and Ivy Tullis finished 4th.

Bierman, Fitzgerald, Tullis, and Cool teamed up for the silver medal winning 4x800m relay team.

In the field events, Schwarz cleared the bar at 8’ even to win the pole vault, and Bierman and Starr finished 2nd and 4th in high jump in that order. Fitzgerald picked up the bronze medal in long jump.

The teams now have a rather lengthy break as they will not compete again until April 16 at Overton.
