* We continue our spotlight of the Callaway senior class this week as we feature Brady Brestel, in his own words.

I'm Brady, and I'm 18-years-old. My parents are Doug and Michelle Brestel. I have one younger sister, two older sisters, one older brother, and a dog.

I plan to attend the University of Kearney Nebraska, located in Kearney. I plan to major in Pre-Dental Hygiene and then transfer to the University of Nebraska Medical Center to further my education.

While I am attending UNK, I will probably try to get involved in some sort of cornhole or pickleball tournament or something like that. I will try to find some sort of job that will be flexible with my school schedule.

While attending UNK I will live in the dorms from my freshman year all the way to my senior year just to be involved in school activities and because it's all close to everything.

I plan to get my bachelor's degree in Pre Dental Hygiene at UNK and then I will go on to pursue another bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene at UNMC After getting my bachelor’s in Dental Hygiene, I will obviously go and be a dental hygienist. I will more than likely work in Lincoln or Kearney just to stay somewhat close to home. The type of tasks I will be doing will be cleaning people's teeth like plaque and stains. I will also be qualified to take and develop x-rays of people’s teeth as well as document patient's care and treatment plans. The average salary for this job in Nebraska is about $100,000 a year depending on what city I work in and how busy I am.

Factors that led me to choose this career: I have always loved going to the dentist to get my teeth cleaned and I have always been obsessed with how my teeth look to make sure that they are perfect and look nice. Some of my ASVAB strengths are science and technical and a Dental Hygienist was one of the careers listed under that.

I feel that Callaway Public Schools has prepared me in many ways mostly through their academics. Throughout my time in high school, the teaching staff has helped me pick a career that I was interested in and has helped me get to the point where I was going to be able to study this in college.

In 10 years I expect to be living in Nebraska still and doing well in my Dental Hygienist career. I don't expect to have a wife or any kids, but I guess anything can happen. I am not sure where exactly I will be working and living in Nebraska, but I hope that I will be able to work and live in the same place.

A good piece of advice I would give to younger kids would probably be to not procrastinate because it just makes everything a lot harder and it just makes you a lot more stressed out.

I am most nervous about my classes and the difficulty of them, but I am most excited about meeting new people and getting out of Callaway, and also just being able to do whatever I want whenever I want to.
