Robin Hood Appears in Callaway
Each year the Callaway Elementary students, under the direction of music instructor Brenner Beavers, demonstrate their singing, acting, and stage skills by performing a musical production for the public. This year’s play was Robin Hood, The Musical, and was performed on Saturday, March 23.
The play is based on the book by Tim Kelly, and featured students in grades 2-6. Beavers said he selected Robin Hood because it was “something different”.
Being in the musical is a commitment for these young actors. They rehearsed every Monday and Thursday for an hour after school. Each student was dressed in costume for their part.
“Most of them have been excited, though some are nervous,” Beavers offered when asked how the kids were feeling leading up to the production.
Beavers has been the music teacher at Callaway Public School since 2015. “I enjoy it. You really get to know the kids in a small school,” he shared.
