Carla Kimball of Callaway has been appointed to serve as the new Executive Director for the Central Nebraska Economic Development District, effective Dec. 1.

The Central Nebraska Economic Development District is proud to announce that Kimball will step in as the District’s new Executive Director, as Judy Petersen prepares to retire.

Kimball’s career began in August 2019, as the District’s Disaster Recovery Coordinator, a new position that was created following Nebraska’s 4420 federal flood declaration.

Through her dedication, Kimball successfully brought more than $5 million in disaster funds to Central Nebraska counties and communities through numerous state and federal grant programs. In August 2022, Kimball was promoted to Deputy Director and led the District while Petersen was out on medical leave that Fall.

In a press release announcing the promotion, CNEDD wrote, “Kimball has a tremendous reputation in Central Nebraska, and the Central Nebraska Economic Development District is excited to continue our good work in the region through her leadership.”

“What a privilege it is to be named Executive Director. Judy has been an excellent leader, teacher, and mentor. I look forward to serving the District with the same high standards that she taught me,” said Kimball.

Ed Brown shared, 'As Chairman of CNEDD I look forward to working with Carla in her new position!'

If you see Kimball on the street or talk to her on the phone, please extend your congratulations and welcome her as CNEDD’s Executive Director. You can reach her at 402-394-1755, or carla.kimball@cnedd.org
