The American Legion Auxiliary monthly meeting was called to order at 5:00 at the Callaway Legion Hall on Sept. 18. Our meeting was called to order by our Vice President Jane Lashley. Joyce Brestel read the prayer and we then said the Pledge of Allegiance, sang the Star Spangled Banner, and recited the Auxiliary Preamble. The minutes of our last meeting were read by Eileen Wilson. MaryAnn Boldt was not present but she had prepared a financial report which Jane read over with us.

Our Custer County Convention was held on Sunday, Sept. 10, in Comstock. Shirley Trout, Joyce Brestel, and MaryAnn Bolt attended the Convention. We also had two Jr. members, Lauren Reiff and Rylee Trumbull, attend the convention and they presented the colors and retired the colors at the ceremony.

October 8 is Fall Round-Up for District 6 in Broken Bow, registration is at 10 a.m. and the session starts at 11:00.

An Ice Cream Social will be held at the Kearney Vet Home on Saturday, Sept. 23.

September is Gold Star Month. We have one Gold Star Member in our organization, she is Rose Hirsch. We will have a celebration to honor her Gold Star Member status on Sunday, Sept. 24 at 3:00 at the Legion Hall. Everyone that wants to honor her is welcome.

Jo Chesley made a motion to donate $50.05 to the VA Home and Gift Shop Accessiment, Deondra seconded this and it received a unanimous vote.

The Auxiliary membership Read Access is $10, Jo made a motion to pay this so Mary-Ann can check into it if she needs to. Deondra seconded this motion and it received a unanimous vote.

We need to check into ordering poppies for next year. Jo will contact Mary-Ann to see if they need to be ordered.

We plan to draw names for two flags - one for Auxiliary and one for civilians, this will keep our flags looking better. Jo made this motion and Jane seconded it and it received a unanimous vote.

The Soup Supper will be on Nov. 12. We will discuss this more at the next meeting. We have been asked to help with snacks for the Kids Carnival and this will be discussed more at our next meeting also.

Joyce read the prayer for closing the meeting. Jane concluded the meeting.

Sincerely, Eileen Wilson, Secretary
