Rise Up At Lake Helen This Weekend
This weekend, Dawson County will be welcoming thousands of visitors for one of Nebraska’s premiere summer events - Livin’ Out Loud. While the outdoor concert is held at Lake Helen in Gothenburg, the entire region benefits economically as hotels are filled within a 50-mile radius, and gas stations and restaurants will likely see an influx of people.
Livin’ Out Loud 2023 will officially get underway at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19, when the first band to take the stage will be All The Noise. The touring band for the high school outreach group The Todd Becker Foundation, All The Noise has reached more than 100,000 students throughout the U.S. and has partnered with more than 1,800 churches to help impact their communities.
They will be followed by Ben Fuller (pictured in basement box on front), who is returning for the second consecutive year to the LOL stage. After a 12-year battle with drug and alcohol addiction, Fuller had a church experience that forever changed his music and his life. He will share his remarkable redemption story through his testimony and music, including his latest hit “But The Cross”, on Saturday evening.
Katy Nichole began her career at an early age, writing songs and leading worship by the age of 14. Her debut single “In Jesus Name” turned her into a viral sensation, now sound-tracking millions of stories on TikTok and Instagram. Her latest single “Hold On” is currently #10 on the charts, and climbing. She will take the stage following Ben Fuller, and will also lead worship for the community worship service on Sunday morning.
Though Cory Asbury has enjoyed a string of hit records, he is probably best known for “Reckless Love”, which was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2019 after winning two GMA Dove Awards and two K-Love Fan Awards. His album by the same name hit the top of the charts as Billboard’s #1 Christian album and won a GMA Dove Award for Worship Album of the Year in 2018. In 2020, Asbury released the hit singles “Sparrows” and “The Father’s House”, and his most recent single “These Are The Days” is at #4 on the chart and is moving up. He will perform following Katy Nichole, and usher in the headline band for this year’s event, CAIN.
The brother and two sisters trio of CAIN is also making a return visit to LOL and were a crowd favorite in 2021. Their first single “Rise Up (Lazarus)” went to #1 on Christian radio and held that spot for several weeks. Their second single, “Yes He Can” also climbed to the #1 spot. Their current hit, “I’m So Blessed”, is a fitting tribute to the siblings Madison Cain Johnson, Taylor Cain Matz, and Logan Cain, who have discovered what it’s like to live their calling.
There is no admission charge for Livin’ Out Loud - the concert is funded entirely by sponsors and private donations. There will be opportunities to donate throughout the show, and those who attend are encouraged to give whatever they are able to help keep the event going.
A variety of food trucks will be available at the park beginning mid-afternoon on Saturday.
A community worship service led by Katy Nichole and speaker Ben Phillips will begin at 10:45 a.m. back at Lake Helen on Sunday morning, Aug. 20. Bring your lawn chairs and plan to attend both Saturday evening and Sunday morning’s events.
“Livin’ Out Loud’s focus is to help unify the body of Christ in praise and outreach to those who have not heard the Gospel. This event is put on by the community of Christ followers, for the community. If you like what we are dong and want to get involved, we would love to have you join us in the mission field of our own backyard.”
