Car Show One of Pioneer Picnic Weekend Highlights
The 2023 Callaway Pioneer Picnic is only a week away, and many exciting things are happening this year! Of course, the Seven Valleys Rodeo and street dance - staples of the weekend - are still the main events. There will be treasure hunts, a climbing wall, bouncy houses, and carnival games in the park for the kids.
Everyone is invited to take part in exploration and find some treasure! To collect the first clue, meet at the Callaway Public Swimming Pool at 12 p.m. Friday, June 23 or Saturday, June 24.
Then relax afterward with a snow cone and more games and activities for the whole family in Morgan Park. The Cook Shack will be open for food and refreshments in the park. There will be a Fun Run, the museum will have open hours, and there will be a car show, art show and of course - parade!
Activities will also include Bingo, pickleball, dodgeball, basketball and a cornhole tournament for adults.
One of the big events of the weekend will be the 2023 Callaway Pioneer Picnic Car/Truck/Vehicle Show & Shine on Saturday, June 24. All cars, trucks, motorcycles, pedal cars, or farm transportation are welcome to participate. There is no registration fee.
Entrants in the vehicle show are encouraged to join in the parade, but participation is optional. Show registration is from 9 a.m. - noon at Morgan Park. For those wanting to drive in the parade, line up begins at 10:15 a.m. at Callaway Public Schools, and the parade gets underway at 10:45 a.m. The parade will head west down Kimball Street.
Award presentations for the car show will be at 3 p.m. at Morgan Park. There will also be a 50/50 raffle drawing open to everyone, but you must be present to win. Tickets will be one for $1, six for $5 or 30 for $20. Half of the raffle money will be donated to support the new Callaway Aquatic Facility. In the past two years, more than $1,500 has been raised at the car show, and between 34 and 54 awards have been given away.
Along with the 50/50 drawing, a large Pit Boss standalone griddle - donated by Lyne's Appliance in Broken Bow - will also be given away. Everyone attending the car show will have an opportunity to purchase tickets and to vote on the People’s Choice award of the show.
