American Legion Auxiliary May Meeting Minutes

Body

The American Legion Auxiliary monthly meeting was called to order at 6:30 at the Callaway Legion Hall on the 15th of May. Our meeting was called to order by our President Deondra Lashley. Joyce Brestel read the prayer and we sang the Star Spangled Banner, said the Pledge of Allegiance and said our Preamble. The minutes of our last meeting were read and MaryAnn Boldt gave the Financial Report.

We talked about Poppy Day and because there will be a lot of absentees on May 19, we are moving the Poppy Day to the alternate day on the 26th. We will meet at the Legion Hall from 10-12. The 26th is National Poppy Day. Jo motioned to pay for ink cartridges and paper for our printing. We also need to get some page protectors. Jane Fieldgrove seconded this motion.

The Auxiliary State Department Convention which will be held from June 22 thru the 25 has been moved from the Ramada in Kearney to Younes Center South in Kearney. MaryAnn will attend the Convention and she will also pick up the member cards.

Jo made a motion to donate to the Fort McPherson Memorial Association for added expenses. MaryAnn seconded this motion. The Memorial Service is at 2:00 on May 29th, at Fort McPherson.

For Pioneer Picnic we would like to carry our banner and maybe pass out small treats. We could use some help. We had election of officers: Shirley Trout---President Jane Fieldgrove---Vice President Eileen Wilson ---Secretary MaryAnn---Treasurer Historian---Jo Chesley Clergy—Joyce Brestel MaryAnn made the motion to have these individuals hold office for the 2023-22024 year. Jo seconded it.

Jo also made a motion to change the time of our meeting to 5:00 on the 3rd Monday of every month. Joyce seconded this. Maybe this will be more convenient for members to attend. This will start at the August Meeting. There is no meeting in July.

We will also make a donation to the Food Pantry. We are hoping to have the Girls Stater attend our June meeting and tell us how things went this year we plan to have cookies and punch for the occasion.

Sincerely Eileen Wilson, Secretary
