Dams of Distinction signify an exceptional Hereford cow in the Breed. Ridder Hereford Ranch of Callaway was recently named as a top Hereford Breeder in the United States on the American Hereford Association's Top 20 Breeders list for 2023. They were ranked #6 this year.

This annual recognition honors superior cows in the breed and the breeders who manage them. To be honored as a Dam of Distinction, a cow must have a superior calving interval and weaning data in addition to other calving requirements. The initials 'DOD' will then follow these cows for the rest of their life.

Ridder Hereford Ranch has 32 cows so honored on this year's list. Nebraska is ranked #3 on the state list, including five breeders in the top 20 rankings.

“DOD progeny make up a large percentage of our annual bull and heifer sale offering,” stated John Ridder. “We always look forward to seeing how many of our cows are named to the list. Nebraska is a great Hereford state. We have 45 breeders with cows on the Dam of Distinction list this year.”
