Vintage Cars And Fundraiser Lunch on May 3
Callaway residents have a special opportunity next week to get up close and personal with some beautiful classic automobiles while helping support local high school students at the same time.
On Tuesday, May 3 between 80 and 90 vintage cars are expected to arrive in Callaway from approximately 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The group are all members of the Vintage Motor Car Club of America, and the tour that is bringing the club to Callaway is the 40th Chrome Glidden Tour.
A luncheon is being planned for the drivers between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the Community Center, and the public is invited to attend. While the lunch will give everyone a chance to mix and mingle with the car owners, it is also a fundraiser for the five Callaway High School FCCLA members who qualified for nationals this year. The qualifiers are Jazlynn Bechtold, Sophia Doyle, Giovanna Doyle and Emalee Glendy. The meal is free-will donation.
As many as 150 people are expected to be with the tour, and they will be looking around our community and visiting the local museums. They said they love the interaction and meeting people in the community, especially car enthusiasts. In fact, if you own a vintage car you are encouraged to drive it downtown that day.
Just a reminder, the Chamber will host their meeting also on May 3 beginning at 5:05 p.m. at the Community Center. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
